Understanding the points system is key to building a competitive team and succeeding in our contests. Below is a breakdown of how points are awarded and subtracted based on real-world player performances.
Scoring System for Players
For Skaters (Forwards & Guards):
Points Scored:
Each point = 1 point
A 3-pointer = 3 points
Assists:
1 assist = 3 points
Rebounds:
1 rebound = 2 points (Offensive or Defensive)
Steals:
1 steal = 3 points
Blocks:
1 block = 3 points
Turnovers:
1 turnover = -1 point
Fouls Committed:
1 personal foul = -1 point
For Centers:
Points Scored:
Each point = 1 point
A 3-pointer = 3 points (if applicable to the center)
Rebounds:
1 rebound = 2 points (Centers are valued for their ability to grab boards)
Assists:
1 assist = 3 points
Blocks:
1 block = 3 points
Steals:
1 steal = 3 points
Turnovers:
1 turnover = -1 point
Bonus & Deductions
We also reward extra effort with bonus points and penalize underperformance:
Double-Double (10+ Points and Rebounds):
Bonus of 5 points
Triple-Double (10+ Points, Rebounds, and Assists):
Bonus of 10 points
Missed Free Throws:
Each missed free throw = -0.5 points
Technical Fouls:
Each technical foul = -2 points
Scoring for Teams:
Plus/Minus:
The plus/minus score represents the overall success of the player's team during a game:
Plus: If the player's team wins = +1 point
Minus: If the player's team loses = -1 point
